Walmart has come up with a new offer to encourage online shoppers. It announced Wednesday a discount on items ordered online and pick the packet from one of their stores.
The idea behind new offer is to ease online shopping and taking advantage of its stores as well. With this the customers will save on the delivery costs and collect the orders faster too.
The new discount policy is valid on thousands of products including car seats and televisions, and to kick off on April 19.
The number of items under the new discount system to reach at least 1 million by the end of June.
Walmart said the company is passing on some of the savings to customers that it has reaped from relying on its own fleet of trucks earlier.
CEO Marc Lore said, “We’re leveraging Walmart’s unique set of assets… We’re able to offer these savings by eliminating one of the most expensive parts of e-commerce.”
Lore added the discounts will vary depending on how much the retail giant saves on shipping costs like more discounts could be given to a 70-inch TV compared to the items that need small packaging.
It is learned a $50 discount can be offered to a 70-inch Vizio SmartCast 4K Ultra HDTV that is currently being sold for $1,698.
