Samsung is learned to be acquiring Artificial Intelligence system Viv, which is more powerful and extensible version of Siri. Pricing information is yet to be disclosed officially or rumored.
Viv is co-founded by Dag Kittlaus, Adam Cheyer and Chris Brigham. The three are known figures in AI as they created Siri that Apple later in 2010 acquired for its iDevices. Following the acquisition the creators left Apple and in 2012 founded Viv.
In the new acquisition strategy Viv will remain as an independent company and to provide services to Samsung and the AI platform.
Vov has interconnected nature to allow more complex and conversational queries that more closely resemble how users actually talk.
Viv has back-end systems of programmatic nature that utilizes breakthroughs in program synthesis.
According to Viv, the new AI can write its own code to accomplish new tasks.
Viv was first unveiled earlier this year at their Disrupt NY conference.
Kittlaus said, “Instead of having to write every code instructed, you’re really just describing what you want it to do… The whole idea of Viv is that developers can go in and build any experience that they want.”
After quitting Apple’s office he wrote an article titled “Siri Is Only The Beginning.” Later he said AI will witness Cambrian Explosion and the technology would power several existing and new systems.
