Parents Should Teach Children Dangers Of Alcohol Abuse At Early Age

Usually it is seen teenagers are not aware of the dangers of drinking and then indulge in excessive alcohol drinking. To overcome the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has come up with a clinical report that states the parents as well as the paediatricians to discuss with their teen aged children about the dangers and risks of alcohol abuse. It is said the teaching must start at age 9.

It is revealed from the report of AAP that around 36 to 50 percentages of high school students drink alcohol. Out of these, around 28 to 60 percent said they indulge in binge drinking.

Those students who admitted to have been indulged in binge drinking said they have tried it at least once in past 30 days.

The AAP report also reveals alcohol use has increased alarmingly among the US children and adolescents. Data says 20 percent of the teens have tested alcohol before reaching to the teen age. It also says four out of five adolescents have taken alcohol by 12th grade.

The AAP report says between the ages of 9 and 13 children starts thinking about alcohol and the blame is on the marketing and advertising towards which they can attracted and influenced.

Due to all these findings it is suggested to teach about the dangers of alcohol abuse to children at very early age.
