Arrest Made in South Mumbai Shopping Center Assault Case

A 21-year-old man has been arrested by the Azad Maidan police for allegedly sexually assaulting and attempting to kill a 35-year-old woman inside a public washroom of a shopping center in south Mumbai. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, and the woman immediately reported the incident to the police.

According to the police, the woman, who works at a law firm, was inside the washroom when the accused, Sandeep Pandey, began knocking on the door. Upon opening the door, the woman was shocked to find a man in the ladies’ washroom. The accused then fled the scene but returned later. When the woman stepped out, he attempted to force himself on her and tried to strangle her.

However, the woman managed to kick the accused and escape. She promptly went to the Azad Maidan police station to file a complaint. The police registered a case of molestation and attempted murder against the accused and apprehended him.

The accused, who works as a security guard near the shopping center, believed that the woman would not report the incident. He returned to his workplace and continued his shift as usual. The police are investigating whether the accused has committed similar offenses in the past.
