This Thanksgiving millions of Americans to face longer security lines in the aftermath of Paris terrorist attacks that killed 129 innocent people and fear of fresh militant attacks may strike around the world.
It is said more bomb-sniffing dogs and more uniformed patrols could be seen for more careful screening. The highways and railroads are to have heightened security, and vigilance will also be more apparent at airports.
US State Department meanwhile have also issued worldwide terror alert for its citizens considering the Paris attacks, downing of a Russian airline in Egypt and also bombing in Beirut. The attacks have been claimed by the ISIS with warnings of more attacks being planned.
However, the Homeland Security secretary, Jeh Johnson, said there was no specific or credible information about any threat in the US and so Americans are encouraged to continue with their travel plans.
According to Mike England, the spokesman for Transportation Security Administration, all the necessary steps are being taken to ensure safety and security of airports.
The AAA estimates about 47 million people will travel this holiday weekend for 50 miles or more and out of this 42 million will drive. The figure will be highest since 2007, but only a small increase from 2014.
