At least one person has been killed and several others injured in a shooting and stabbing Saturday afternoon at the National Western Complex in northwest Denver during Colorado Motorcycle Expo weekend.
Denver Police Department spokeswoman Raquel Lopez confirmed the incident with one dead and 5 injured saying a disturbance broke out during Colorado Motorcycle Expo.
Unofficial reports suggest the violence may have occurred between rival motorcycle gangs.
No arrests have been made but few are being questioned and investigation is ongoing.
The Denver Health Medical Center has received seven injured and among those three are said to be in critical condition. It is yet not known the one killed was due to firearm shot or stabbing. For safety reasons the hospital emergency department was locked down temporarily until 4:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET).
After lifting the lockdown the Denver Health tweeted, “Denver Health is back to normal operations. Lock down on the ED was lifted. Special thanks to our Medics, ED/Trauma staff, and Denver Police.”
The incident took place at about 12:45 p.m. (2:45 p.m. ET). The Denver Post quoted a bystander witness, who preferred remaining anonymous, saying the feud started by rival biker gangs.
The organizers have not yet confirmed whether the event will remain open on Sunday.
